How to find a quality dog trainer
Check to see if the instructor is certified by The Certification Counsel for Professional Dog Trainers.
Then, visit a class and observe the instructor’s skills with people. Are the people treated with respect? Are they having fun? Is this an instructor you would be willing to take advice from?
Look for a trainer that can get dogs to obey because it is fun rather than as an avoidance of discomfort.
Basic group classes should have no more than 8 dogs (for an experienced training) per instructor. As students need and deserve one on one attention.
An instructor that helps you apply the training to your real life situations not just during class or at training time.
