CGC certification has many benefits

February 12, 2022

Having a dog that has passed its CGC test has many benefits. If you enjoy doing things with your dog and showing off its skills, you may want to consider taking our Canine Good Citizen class. At the end of class, you have the option of taking the AKC’s Canine Good Citizenship test. With CGC class, your dog will have improved basic skills like leash walking, sit, down, stay. It’s also going to learn how to handle itself with grace in a crowd, not jumping on people and not pulling forward to see other dogs.

The CGC test evaluates your dog’s ability to be calm and relaxed with grooming. And for this reason, you will get help teaching your dog to love vet exams and grooming.

Have you ever wanted to do therapy dog visits? You will find passing the CGC test is one of the prerequisites for many therapy programs. In addition, the CGC class is a fantastic start to any of the dog sports or activities you may want to do with your dog.

Some homeowners insurance programs offer a discount if your dog has passed this test. And many people find landlords approve them for a rental more easily if their dog has their CGC certificate.
